Thank you very much for this beautiful call... I love the sound... and it runs pretty easy... Definitely going on the lanyard.

Splash, Try to convert the wood reed to a plastic reed and let me know if it works and how it sounds.

Ok Gary here is the break down.

I tried 2 reeds in the 7.5mm thickness. One had a long narrow taper, the other a short wide reed.. neither one sounded good in the wooden mouth piece. The sound produced was very buzzy, and didn't produce adequate volume for a hand call.

I tried 2 reeds in the 10mm thickness. One was a short wide reed, and the other was the new Gibson reed with the tongue.. Both sounded ok, the modified reed sounded the best. Both produced a cleaner sound, and had more volume then the previous two reeds..

I tried the metal reed in a Gibson mouth piece and it was super crisp and much louder then the mylar reed.. it made a much higher pitched sound then the mylar did..

I couldn’t try a plastic mouth piece in the barrel you sent me because I put it on my reamer and opened the top hole so the wooden mouth piece would seat properly...

I really like the metal reed and am going to be looking into this further.. I have a goose call that has a copper reed in it... I bet that would sound great in a crow call...

Keep trying boss. When you get it to where you think it is the right one, I am ready field test with the A-Team.

YOU BET.... You are among the top 5 getting calls once I dial in this new mouth piece... I thought I was good to go with the slight adjustments, then you threw in a money wrench with this metal reed... SO much louder then mylar... I wonder if a 12mm mylar reed would be louder... Hhhhhm scratch
