Bear Hunting Empty Bear Hunting

A co-worker shot this big 625 lb. brute a 2 years ago less than 5 miles from my house. Dogs cornered him and he crawled in with his 357 magnum pistol and ended the chase. We had bear chili and roast for the Christmas party.

Bear Hunting Empty Bear Hunting

We have big bear here. The state record came from where I live, Craven County a few years back around 820 lbs. The meat is strong tasting, but like any wild game it is in knowing how to cook it. Most locals cook it like a pot roast. Potatoes, onions, carrots, spices in a browning bag for 2-3 hours, must be the spices. Not bad.
