Not fishing, but I am crafting custom tools of the trade.

Pretty work Ed. I do not even know how to ask, but how did you get all the colors in the rod? If fish could see out of water I think they would strike the rod before the lure. I give it first place from here.

The area with the silver/red/green and thin black lines is all thread.
It's a wrap called a Throop wrap. Basically you lay down 2, 3, or 4 colors of thread loosely, tie off the ends, shift the threads around in uneven patterns so they have a "wave" to them. Then a top thread (in this case black) is spun over the top with an even spacing between each turn.
Then many coats of epoxy to seal it and give it depth.
Also known as a tiger wrap, when only two colors of thread are used a tiger stripe pattern is revealed when complete.
The rest of the rod is done with pigmented epoxy and/or decals.
