Hey everyone! I just wanted to be the first to post under the Crow Hunting forum.

I'm from PA, I shoot either a Remington 11-87 or Traditions ALS2100 shotgun, usually 7.5 or 8 shot reloads that I make myself (around 1250 fps). Love to hunt morning decoy setups, do some running and gunning. Not huge numbers of crows where I am from. I think my bro-in-law (my main crow hunting partner) and I have been out over 25 times this year and we are going to have a tough time getting 200 birds before season ends on April 10th. We did get our all time best this year...shot 22 birds a few weeks ago.

Started hunting crows about 7-8 years ago and continued to get more and more serious about it. Definitely have learned a TON over those years and look forward to learning more. Just wish we had the crow population like some places do.

I hear ya.... when I lived in California I was lucky to get 3 in a day... all the crows stayed within city limits and outside that was the damn desert... crows hate hot dry places.... now if I was to go raven hunting... maaaan my kia for the year would be outstanding LOL..

Moving to Texas wasnt all bad, there are a crap load more crows here... although the last two years have been .....off...

hey all....i am new to the crow hunting and will soak up as much info as possible. i live in virginia beach and dont have a lot of time to learn in the field by trial and error. i have tested the suckerpunch call already and would have smoked 2 dumb neighborhood crows with 15yd shots. these suckers responded to an uneducated caller which makes me want to get out into the field and try my luck against the smart ones. looking fwd to learning and bustin crows.

Well I can tell you this, even if this site doesnt take off I;m going to use it as a knowledge dump... I have also been looking into purchasing a stereo microphone so I can record a bunch of my own hand call sounds... I have heard the hand call sounds that are for sale out there in interweb world and they are pretty pathetic... I know that with a stereo mic, a brand new Toyota Avalon as my sound booth, and audacity as my mixer I can make better calling sequences then the hand calls that are out there.

Glad to see you on the site NadaMucho Very Happy Wink Cool

Splash,

If you live in TX, there should be lots and lots of crows...from what I hear. I heard from a very reliable source that your boy (Bob A....haha) hunts a HUGE roost near El Paso. I don't know if that's true or not. I think it would be cool to find some of these big roosts and hunt them. We might as well get some action and pad our stats a little.

Hey Splash, a sound booth is not hard to make or very expensive. I built one for the horns at our church band one Christmas. It worked too well, they had to mic the horns and pipe them into the auditorium to be able to here them over the piano. Very Happy

Yeah I just so happen to have some sound proofing foam pads in the garage.... it's just so much easier for me to jump in the car.. I'm not really looking to dampen feedback as much as Im trying to keep screaming kids and parrots off the recording. LOL

once there is a good members base I will pay for server space and there is a feature on this forum where we can swap Mp3s Twisted Evil ... so I can post them to the site and let anyone who wants em, have em. Cool
